Have you been to the Western North Carolina mountains in the Spring?  It’s not something you want to miss.  Even the Obamas knew this as they just had their relaxing vacation here last weekend.  Flowering trees, bushes, bulbs popping up, everywhere!

The birds sing louder than ever.  They hustle and bustle here and there to build their nests, singing as loudly as they can.  Everything is waking up and it’s a site and feeling to behold. I truly do recommend an enjoyable Asheville vacation in the Spring.

No kidding!  President Obama is coming to Asheville NC this weekend for a vacation.  I hope he can bring his dog.  Too bad he doesn’t know about Cabin Cove Farm so he could stay there with his dog and family instead of the Grove Park Inn. He could have a pet friendly Asheville NC vacation.  Afterall, we all like to do that.

There have been 10 Presidents that have stayed at the Grove Park Inn.  I didn’t know that many have been here to visit.  I’m so excited about the possibility of seeing our President.

The city is abuzz.  Asheville NC is revelling in the energy of having our president visit us. Oh my, everyone in the area everywhere is talking about it.  Have you seen him yet?  Where is he now?  Everybody leave him alone and let them have a vacation!

But then there it is on the front page, a beautiful smiling president Obama and his lovely wife Michelle, standing in line at 12 Bones waiting for their barbeque rib order. They look so happy.  I’ve never seen them shine such beautiful smiles!  It’s because they’re here, in Asheville, the very best place to be.  Where you should be, in an Asheville mountain cabin.

FunInNC

My job requires me to work obscure hours, and after putting in several 80-hour workweeks in a row, I will often find myself without anything to do for up to a month. During one of these recent lulls, I decided to take a reprieve from my grueling work schedule. I knew that I wanted to be disconnected for a bit, so I researched where I could go for a nice retreat.

A friend suggested that I go on a cabin retreat in North Carolina, something that he did a few months back. I took his advice and spent five days outside of Asheville in a rustic log cabin. During my stay, I visited the Biltmore Estate and went a several long hikes through the picturesque foothills. The trip was just what I needed to recharge and regroup before another rash of work.

I heard we are having a most distinguished guest this weekend.  President Obama and his family are coming to Asheville NC for a vacation weekend.  I’ll have to make sure I go everywhere I possibly can this weekend to see if I can run into him.  LOL

I ran into Andie McDowell at the bead store one day.  That was fun.  She’s such a small thing.  Surprised me as she looks bigger on the screen.  You just never know who you are going to run into on an Asheville vacation.  Seems everyone loves to visit this fantastic place.

Just went to Biltmore Estate yesterday to see the Festival of Flowers.  It’s still going on, will be until May 15th or so.  All the tulips were in bloom outside the Greenhouses.  They were so magnificent.

I marvel at how people can be so expressive with flowers.  Someone had to plan all that out and put it into view.  Every kind of tulip you can imagine is for your viewing pleasure.  oh, and the colors!  What a site to behold on a Biltmore Estate excursion.

Now’s the time to visit Biltmore Estate.  The Festival of Flowers is a beautiful experience.  Everywhere you walk on the Estate flowers are bursting out greeting us all.  They’ve just opened a whole new section of the Estate called Antler Village.  Flowers line it as well. They put on quite a show this time of the year.  My favorite thing is to go to the Estate and do my exercise of walking while all the flowers are blooming.

You can buy Biltmore Estate tickets at the gate for $60.  But you can purchase tickets at “Partners” of the Estate that have an agreement to sell tickets, for only $48 when you stay at someplace like Cabin Cove Farm.  Children 10-16 are half price.  These tickets are 2 day tickets, which can only be purchased through partners.

Visiting places on vacations can sometimes be difficult when you have your pups with you.  If you stay at a pet friendly accomodation, you are not always allowed to keep your pups there when you are not there.  Leaving them in a car in the summer is certainly not  the smartest thing to do, while you run in and out of shops or recreational events.  So oftentimes even though we think it’s going to be great to bring Fido,  we find ourselves feeling burdened.

Hah!  I have a solution!  I found a cabin that is so pet friendly I feel like I’m accompanying him on his vacation.  They take the term Asheville pet friendly vacation cabin to the limits!  There’s a 3/4 acre fenced in area for Fido to run free, there are bowls, beds, bones and a toy for him!!  He can stay at home while I run around, either on the porch or on the inside of the cabin.  He has his own cabinet!!! (where he keeps his belongings.  LOL  Love this place!

Looking through all the websites shopping for a place to stay in the Asheville area,  I was quite clear I wanted to bring my pup so I looked for a pet friendly vacation cabin.  I was most pleasantly surprised to see there were many listed.  So then much to my joy, I was able to choose amongst many, the place that I felt suited me perfectly.

I looked at many and just felt there was just the right one for me.  I finally came across a llama/goat farm in Leicester right outside the city border of Asheville. There was a lovely log cabin sitting on the top of a hill in the midst of farm country.  It looked just perfect.  And perfect it was.  I got to accompany my pup on a Asheville pet friendly vacation.

You can go just about anywhere with your pup on your Asheville pet friendly vacation.  This is a town of very animal conscious folks.  There are oodles of pet friendly cabins and there are places where it’s appropriate to take your pup. The Three Bone Bakery specializes in bakery goods for pups, as well as lots of accessory type things.  And the pup gets to go inside and pick out what he wants at the bakery counter.  They use carob for what looks like chocolate and I just want to eat them all.

When you go downtown, you are welcome to sit at an outdoor Bistro and drink your cafe leisurely while your pup lays at your feet.  Asheville has an ordinance that allows folks to dine outside and have their pups with them.  Outdoor eateries all over the city accomodate your pup. Many shops will have bowls of water in case your pup gets thirsty on it’s long meandering walk with it’s human down the streets of Downtown Asheville.
